Fun with Google

So I "googled" myself to see how far down this blog would be, and I was intrigued by how many time Bryan Thompson turns up. 17,000,000 hits, actually.

So, as it turns out, apparently, I'm a photographer, a designer/technician, a patient that once had a serious illness, a Marine Science undergraduate, a clerk/auditor candidate for the Republican Party in Utah, the president/founder/CTO of GlobalWisdom, a track runner and athlete (oh, how well they know me), a reporter for Kansas Public Radio (more my taste), and an actor/writer/director (definitely more my taste). And that's just the first two pages.

Interestingly enough,  this site doesn't show up until page 14. I wonder if I could put my name on it more to change that. Hmm.

So, what all do you do? Google your name and see what you find on the first page. Post your responses. Don't worry about posting the links.

Deal or No Deal: It's Awfully Addictive

medium_deal_nodeal.jpgHonestly didn't think I would like this show when it first premeired. I mean, it just looked like another TV game show and another television opportunity for Howie Mandel. But, it's not bad. It's awfully addictive. And Howie's not bad either.

To Knit, or Not To Knit

medium_bryan_knitting.2.jpgEarlier today, Kristin went to her first knitting session. Apparently, knitting has made a real comeback and is not just for 70 year-old ladies anymore. There's a whole group of women in our young adult group that have taken up the hobby and have formed their own Sunday afternoon group. Kristin decided to join them today, even though she's never knitted before.

After her first day, I'd have to say, she's learned a lot. And apparently, these women (and some men) are onto something: knitting is fun. At least my wife thinks so.

And I discovered something: Kristin is much better than me at knitting (see my sorry job to the left). I was lucky to be able to even put the knitting needles together. Mine look more like chopsticks than anything else. Kristin actually has a pattern going on. I must say, I'm proud of her.

As for me, I'll keep trying (tonight was my first try at 9:00 PM. I don't know if I'll ever join the Male Knitters group, but I'll see if I can't make some baby clothes out of it.

My wife's knitting is the one in blue. Much better than mine.

Anniversary Date Night

My folks have been visiting us for the last few days and they're here until Saturday. And since Monday is our (the wife and I) fourth wedding anniversary and Friday is close to it with a free babysitter, the wife and I are going out for our anniversary early. We're very excited about this! We're going to go to a really nice restaurant, go to Barnes and Noble - our favorite place - since we rarely ever get to enjoy ourselves there now. And then, we are going to do something we haven't done together in almost a year: we are going to go to a real live motion picture at the movie theater! I am so excited! Imagine a film buff not being able to go to a film on the big screen! It should almost be a crime!

I have no idea what we're going to see yet, but I'm really psyched. That alone is a wonderful anniversary gift. I still don't know how we'll be able to talk about anything besides the baby. That will be the mystery.
